In some non-restricted areas, independent riding may be possible, but we do not recommend riding solo in remote mountain regions. Trails can be isolated, mobile signal is limited, weather changes quickly and mechanical or medical problems can become serious. If you want more independence, we can suggest supported or partially supported options that still give you freedom while keeping the key safety support in place.

Yes, altitude can affect your performance, especially on trips in Mustang, Manang, Everest, Manaslu and other high Himalayan regions. Climbs feel harder, recovery is slower and symptoms of altitude sickness must be taken seriously. Our itineraries are designed with acclimatisation in mind, but riders should pace themselves, stay hydrated and tell their guide immediately if they feel unwell.

You should bring riding clothes, a helmet, gloves, sunglasses, waterproof jacket, warm layers, riding shoes, personal medication, a small day pack, basic tools and any bike-specific spare parts. For high-altitude trips, you will also need warm clothing for evenings, as temperatures can drop quickly after sunset. We provide detailed packing advice before each trip.

Mountain biking in Nepal can range from easy valley rides to very challenging high-altitude adventures. Trails may include jeep tracks, singletrack, rocky descents, steep climbs, suspension bridges, hike-a-bike sections and remote village trails. We grade our trips carefully, but riders should be honest about their fitness, technical skills and experience. Nepal is rewarding, but it is not always smooth or easy.

Yes. Travel insurance is strongly recommended and should cover mountain biking, emergency evacuation, medical treatment, trip delays and high-altitude travel if your route goes above standard trekking elevations. For remote trips, helicopter evacuation may be the only realistic emergency option, so please check your policy carefully before travelling.

Yes, mountain bike rental is available in places such as Kathmandu and Pokhara. Rental bikes are suitable for many rides, but availability and quality can vary depending on the season and bike size. For serious enduro, high-altitude or multi-day trips, please contact us in advance so we can advise whether rental is suitable or if bringing your own bike is the better option.

Yes, you can visit Nepal during the monsoon months of June, July and August, but the best destination depends on the route and current trail conditions. Some areas, especially rain shadow regions such as Upper Mustang and parts of Lower Mustang, can still offer good riding during the monsoon. However, access roads, landslides, muddy trails and flight delays can affect travel. Contact us before booking and we can recommend the best options based on the season, weather and trail conditions.

Yes, most travellers need a tourist visa to enter Nepal. Many nationalities can get a visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and at selected land borders. You can usually apply for 15, 30 or 90 days, depending on your travel plans. Visa applications can be filled on the department of immigration website before arriving in Nepal. Visa rules can change, so we recommend checking the official Nepal immigration website before you travel.

For some regions, yes. A registered guide is compulsory for restricted areas such as Upper Mustang, Manaslu, Nar Phu, Dolpo and other listed restricted regions. These areas also require special permits and must be arranged through a registered trekking or adventure company. For areas such as Annapurna, Everest and Langtang, a guide is not always compulsory, but we strongly recommend riding with one. Nepal’s trails can be remote, physically demanding and difficult to navigate. A local guide helps with route finding, safety, permits, accommodation, weather decisions, cultural understanding and mechanical or emergency support.

October, November and March to May are generally the best seasons for mountain biking and trekking in Nepal. However, the best time also depends on the region you plan to visit. Remote areas such as Dolpo have a much shorter window due to snow and access, while Upper Mustang sits in a rain shadow and can offer good riding during the monsoon, although access can sometimes be affected. For clear skies and mountain views, October and November are usually the best months. In recent years, however, both months have also seen severe storms, so conditions can never be fully guaranteed. April is generally warmer, but it can be cloudier. We can advise you on the best time of year for your chosen trip, but weather in Nepal is becoming more unpredictable due to climate change. Please travel with an open mind and be prepared for changing conditions, possible delays and all types of mountain weather.

All our trips require medium and above fitness level, even if they are shuttle supported trips. You are riding at altitudes above 3000m and the fitter you are the more you will enjoy the trip. Please refer to each trip for the required fitness level.

No, we have a quality rental fleet for day trips and shorter tours. For longer expeditions, many riders prefer their own bike for comfort and performance reasons. We Rent out Hardtails, Full Suspension, EBikes and Gravel Bikes. Check with tour airlines before flying with your bike.

Upper Mustang requires a special restricted area permit. We handle all arrangements for ACAP, (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit - 3000 npr) and RAP ( Restricted Area Permits - US$50 per day).
